every day is earth day--at Goody

Just because Earth Day has come and gone, doesn't mean you have to forget about being green. Goody reminds us this daily with its Eco Movement™ and Down To Earth™ brush collections, featuring unique bamboo and wood designs.

Personally, I'm glad that such products exist for us grown-ups since all I do is worry about detangling my daughter's hair. They work well on our hair too--as long as we haven't pulled it all out yet!

The Eco Movement collection ($11.50 each) is made of crafted from natural bamboo. ComforTip wood bristles provide a soothing massage and move gently through hair without snagging or pulling.

I tried the Cushion Styler Brush ($6.50; pictured left) from the Goody Down To Earth collection featuring a natural wood design. The ball-tipped bristles gently massage the scalp while detangling hair--great for any hair style or length. Plus it's pretty compact so it's easy to tote around.
All are available at Walmart stores nationwide and on www.walmart.com.

earth day: make the world a better place

We've got kids. They need our support. This Earth Day, do something good for future generations. Pangea Organics recently partnered with the Jane Goodall Institute (www.janegoodall.org) in support of its mission to educate children, protect natural habitats and uplift the lives of those human populations that live among or near important protected habitats. As a result, Pangea will donate 5% net sales to the Jane Goodall Institute. The promotion comes at an exciting time--the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Goodall’s work. And while you're changing the world for your kids, do some good for yourself too. Check out Pangea Organic's line of nurturing, cruelty-free, organic products, designed to make you look and feel good. The great formulas are housed in biodegradable, sustainable packaging (think egg-carton boxes) and easy-to-maneuver, waste-minimizing pump bottles. Save 25% on all products in honor of Earth Day, through April 30th, at www.pangeaorganics.com.

earth day: down by the sea

My son hasn't stopped talking about Earth Day since he learned about it in school. "Thursday is Earth Day, Mom!" he has told me repeatedly over the past week. So I've been trying to do things here and there to help commemorate it--taking him along to the garbage disposal to do the recycling, rinsing out his disposable drinking cups so he can use them again, and introducing him to eco-friendly products. Depth is one of our favorite brands. Cool ocean-blue packaging, an all-natural forumla and good-for-you therapeutic sea ingredients. The products are 70% organic, 100% vegetarian, hypo-allergenic and paraben, phthalate, SLS and synthetic fragrance-free. What's more, the bottles are made from 50% post consumer waste and the graphic design on the bottles are silk-screened to avoid excessive waste associated with label production. Someone must really love our planet to think of all these details. My kids love the hydrating shampoo (it doubles as a bubble bath!), conditioner (gets the knots out of my daughter's unruly tresses), and hand soaps (they both love the clean scent and the fact that they can maneuver the pump bottle themselves ($7.99-$9.99). Check out the complete line at www.depthbody.com, www.wholefoods.com, or www.drugstore.com.

earth day: eco-chic kids' furniture

How cute is this night stand? I love the clean lines, the soft pink hue and the pretty butterfly motif. I'm sure my daughter would love it too--she's into anything as long as it's pink, pink, pink! But aside from the great design, it's earth-friendly! From the Muu Kids' Sam Collection, it's made from locally sourced, certified sustainable wood with non-toxic finishes. And it is made in the USA because local manufacturing ensures quality and safety, reduces impact on the environment, and means less energy is consumed transporting it to you. My favorite part, tho, is that the interchangeable muu panel system means muu furniture can grow with your child so you're not constantly shelling out cash for new pieces. Available at retailers across the country and at
www.muukids.com.
